Lunging your miniature horse or shetland

Lunging is of course much more than letting your shetlander or miniature horse run laps on the lunging line. In addition to good physical exercise and condition building, it is the ideal way to train your horse. You let him get used to your voice and learn to obey.

You can teach your horse further by asking him for different transitions. You can let him get used to wearing a bridle or saddle or you can let your horse take an obstacle. It is good to change direction regularly to prevent dizziness in both yourself and your horse.

In our webshop you will find all kinds of lunge lines that you can quickly and easily attach to the halter of your horse with the help of a handy musketon hook. Our lunge lines are available in various lengths, including of course from 6 meters especially for shetlanders and miniature horses. The lunge lines are looped at the end of the line so that the line does not pop out of your hands during training.

Extensive training with the double lunge line

If you want to get your shetlander to work extra or prepare for the contracted work, use a double lunge line. You then need a lunge girth next to your line to get through the lines. The lunging girths of MHS Equestrian are softly padded with a filled neoprene underlay. The narrow nylon cord at the ends simply slides through the rings of the lunge girth, making the effect very smooth. With a double lunge you can have a more direct effect on your horse. It runs between two lines and therefore the control is optimal.

Auxiliary reins for lunging
